Dr. Obinna Ebirim
Medical Doctor

Dr. Obinna Ebirim is a 29 year old Nigerian medical doctor, Social media public health advocate with interest in the effects of climate change on health. He believes that we need to deal with climate change to effectively eradicate Malaria, Cholera and Dengue fever. He was one of the nominees of the 2015 Social Media Malaria Heroes Award for the African continent and was voted as one of the 3 top global mobilisers for Malaria awareness on Social media.

He currently work as a Research Associate with DCL consulting for International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) in Nigeria, supporting the Nigerian government's immunization programs and primary health care system strengthening initiatives. He recently represented his organisation at the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on immunization meeting of the World Health Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland. He has previously worked as a medical officer at the Naval Medical Centre Sapele, Delta State and also as a Medical House Officer at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Rivers State, Nigeria. He gives back to the society by volunteering every Saturday to work without pay, as a medical doctor, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama Abuja Sickbay for the poor.

Passionate about youth development and politics, Dr. Ebirim was a one time elected Student Union Assistant Secretary General at the University of Port Harcourt where he obtained his medical degree and later became the Pioneer President of Sapele Zonal National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Health Community Development Service group. He also served in 2014, as the Personal Assistant to the Imo State Commissioner for Health who he supported in his technical health and Ikeduru LGA political responsibilities.

Obinna is a recipient of many awards including Glitz Award Student Activist of the Year 2010, Timiwest Oyins Integrity Award for Innovative Leadership 2011, Association of Resident Doctors UPTH Medical House Officer of the Year 2012/2013. He is a member of Nigerian Medical Association and also the ruling political party in Nigeria - All Progressive Congress.

Obinna is single, resides in the capital city of Nigeria - Abuja and his hobbies include soccer and internet surfing.
