The study shows that Nigeria will be able to meet its 2030 emission target under all three scenarios. Sector experts do not expect the power sector to develop to the level of emissions above the 300 metric tonnes cap Nigeria has set for itself in the NDC. In other words, Nigeria’s emission target set in the NDC is not ambitious enough. However, there are indications that Nigeria could update its commitment to a more ambitious emission target that is better aligned with electrification targets.
