Green Academy 2025
This is the 2025 cohort of the Nigeria Green Academy, an annual programme designed for emerging civil society activists, journalists, artists, and social entrepreneurs. This programme is a significant opportunity to enrich participants' knowledge and toolbox, as well as cultivate networks, all of which are essential for addressing some of the most critical governance and development challenges facing Nigeria.

Tega Edeki
Tega Edeki is a development economist with over a decade of experience at Citizens Information and Development Initiative (CIDI), advancing just energy transition, agroecology, and peacebuilding. He applies the Gender Development Investment framework to ensure the inclusion of systems and socio-economic rights. Tega co-founded the Niger Delta Policy Advocacy Committee and led the STOP-THE-SOOT campaign, mobilizing over 5000 citizens for climate justice.

Faith Onyila Alobo
Faith Onyila Alobo is a social and behaviour change communications (SBCC) expert and mental health advocate with over a decade of experience in community development. She has led projects on peacebuilding, climate resilience, gender inclusion, and governance, using storytelling to amplify voices. Passionate about holistic health, she works with youth to champion well-being and envisions accessible, community-based mental health services.

Fatima Muhammad
Fatima Muhammad is an agronomist, agripreneur, and radio presenter dedicated to advancing climate-smart agriculture and food security. Working in different initiatives, she has empowered over a thousand women and youth, promoting sustainable farming practices. Fatimah is passionate about integrating indigenous knowledge and exploring climate financing to support marginalized and underrepresented communities.

Muhammad Muhammad
Muhammad Muhammad is a transformational leader advancing youth empowerment, gender inclusion, and transparent governance. He has served with Connected Development’s Follow The Money. Muhammad is currently the Jigawa State Officer for BudgIT and serves on other platforms such as 3MTT and TurnUp Jigawa, championing civic innovation and accountability.

Chibundum Chioma Udeh
Chibundum Chioma Udeh is a passionate advocate for sustainable development, social equity, and inclusive governance. With a background in Information Science, Chibundum has strong organizational skills with a deep commitment to community development. She has supported B2B engagement in the agribusiness sector while at the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria (AHK Nigeria).

Jola Praise Ademola
Jola Praise Ademola is a multi-genre artist and development practitioner using art to advance social change. At Stand With A Girl (SWAG) Initiative, she promotes gender-inclusive, youth-friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research (SRH) advocacy. Praise is a certified humanitarian; her award-winning painting, “The Clinic Floor,” was exhibited at the 2024 UN General Assembly (UNGA).

Opeyemi Islamiyat Ajenifuja
Opeyemi Islamiyat Ajenifuja is an urban planner and licensed drone pilot committed to creating sustainable and inclusive urban environments. As a project coordinator for the Women’s Leadership Network at Lagos Urban Development Initiative, she worked with women in informal communities to spearhead advocacy efforts, influence policy development, and address critical environmental issues.

Yahuza Sani Hudu
Yahuza Sani Hudu is the founder and CEO of CleanUp MDC and creator of JoliTrash, an AI-powered, toll-free recycling platform that enables Nigerians to report waste in their local languages, even without access to smartphones or the internet. His work connects households to recyclers, promoting climate education, and creates green jobs.

Blessing Iriaka
Blessing Iriaka is a journalist and Advocacy Officer at the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy, and Ethics (CSAAE). She is passionate about good governance, transparency, accountability, and the protection of human rights. Over the years, Blessing has led community and media advocacy campaigns, including her ongoing efforts to expand Budget Watch Clubs across Nigerian universities into a nationwide civic accountability platform.

Hauwa Ibrahim
Hauwa Ibrahim is a youth advocate with experience in project management and community development. At WECAN Africa, she serves as Program Officer, leading projects on women’s economic inclusion and climate-conscious entrepreneurship. Passionate about gender equity, climate justice, and youth empowerment, Hauwa's advocacy has impacted hundreds of young people and women across various communities.

Bashir Isiya Ahmad
Bashir Isiya Ahmad is a climate activist and environmental expert passionate about climate justice and financing. At CliMates Nigeria, Bashir has led impactful community-based projects in forestry, agrifood systems, and conservation. With deep expertise in climate mitigation and sustainability, he advocates strongly for environmental justice and a resilient future.

Alu Mary Ojima
With over a decade of impact in adolescent health, Alu Mary Ojima is a public health professional, author, and Programs Manager of the Girls and Goals Initiative. She has led more than 25 grassroots projects across 10 Nigerian states. Ojima’s work reflects a deep commitment to building a generation of empowered adolescents who can thrive in dignity, equality, and well-being.

Ayebatari Biobelemoye Ayube
Ayebatari Biobelemoye Ayube is a development practitioner and social activist with expertise in community engagement, governance, and program delivery. As the Executive Program Officer at KEFFESO Host Communities Development Trust, she advances the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act and inclusive development in the Niger Delta. Passionate about education, health, and governance, Ayebatari inspires sustainable changes in her community.

Promise Eze
Promise Eze is a journalist reporting on social justice, Africa’s geopolitics, health, and climate change, with bylines in The Guardian (UK), The Africa Report, African Arguments, IPS, and more. A member of the ILO ACCEL Africa Network of Journalists, he advocates against child labour in supply chains. Beyond reporting, Promise has trained young journalists in solutions journalism and won the 2023 Prime Progress Biodiversity Reporting Challenge award.

Barakatullahi Ovayioza Usman
Barakatullahi Ovayioza Usman is an expert in sustainable development and urban management. She focuses on environmental sustainability, gender equity, disaster resilience, and skills empowerment. A participant in the 2024 African Urbanism Research, Barakatullahi advocates for inclusive, sustainable cities in Nigeria and beyond.

Shamsuddeen Abdulkareem
Shamsuddeen Abdulkareem is a passionate advocate for environmental law, using poetry to promote climate education among young people in Northern Nigeria. Through his work with Eco Poets, he has gained recognition, including participation in the 2024 Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Program. He is also a recipient of the Algalita Marine Research Institute grant.

Tongs Nenkus Simon
Tongs Nenkus Simon is an advocate for women’s political inclusion and youth engagement in Nigeria. She serves as a Special Assistant on Gender and Youth Development to the Deputy Majority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly. Tongs is also a Communications Officer at the Women in Politics Forum.

Abbas Abubakar
Abbas Abubakar is a public health expert passionate about public health, epidemiology, and grassroots community development in northern Nigeria. His professional interests center on developing innovative solutions that integrate health, technology, and sustainable development.

Ahmadu Usman Ode
Ahmadu Usman Ode is a writer, poet, and cultural policy enthusiast passionate about using creativity, intellectual debate, and activism to drive social change. As the founder of the Keffi Book Club, he fosters literary innovation and community engagement.

Ajeole Grace Enemarie
Ajeole Grace Enemarie is a Programs Officer at Global Rights Nigeria with experience in human rights programming, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. She leads initiatives on security, human rights, and resource governance, and coordinates coalitions on mass atrocities and the rights of mining host communities.

Michael Patrick Maimako
Michael Patrick Maimako is a humanitarian and development worker. As Program Manager at the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Catholic Diocese of Jalingo, he has spearheaded projects on clean water access, peacebuilding, WASH, and civic participation. Michael is passionate about social justice, climate fairness, inclusive governance, and building partnerships that drive lasting social change.

Furera Isiaka
Furera Isiaka is a social justice advocate and serves as the Program Communication Officer at the Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED). In her role at CHRICED, she leads campaigns focused on accountability, anti-corruption, youth engagement, and reproductive health. Furera uses storytelling and media to amplify marginalized voices and inspire change.

Zubairu Rajab Haruna
Zubairu Rajab Haruna is a youth activist and climate justice ambassador. As the leader at Mission4impact, he coordinates programs on climate resilience, civic engagement, and inclusive advocacy. Zubairu is a fellow of Yiaga Africa’s Community Organizing Institute and Oxfam Climate Justice Ambassador. He mobilizes grassroots voices for policy impact and sustainable change.

Mc-Tampiriso Kyng-George
Mc-Tampiriso Kyng-George is a surveyor, geospatial analyst, and development advocate committed to using data for community impact. His work focuses on forest monitoring, urban planning, and the distribution of renewable energy. Mc-Tampiriso is the founder of Surveying Solution on YouTube, where he demystifies GIS for young professionals. He has received recognition from FIG Young Surveyors Africa.
